Sunday April 14, 1946

Dear Keith and Edna: 

When I left the golden glow of the sun Thursday morning, I didn't realize that in the course of some fifteen hours later, I would enter into a climate bleak and cold, where the sun was obscured by "leaden" clouds and a chilly April shower. But nature could not obliterate my memory of the beauty of Florida. and the warm and festive environment of your home; and a lasting memory it will be. 

The trip was a little monotonous, but then it wasn't overlong. I was lucky, for at no time did I have to carry the rather heavy grip. I met some very nice people on the train. Frances and the children could not "get over" my suntan. They ^would rather have me "burnt" than "studio-pallid".
