Washington Dec. 28th. 1844

Dear Sir,
In answer to your letter of the 23rd. postmarked 26th. enclosing the Resolution of the Academy and requesting to know if it is practicable for me to attend the special meeting called for the 8th. of Jany. I would say that I will endeavor to be with you, at that time.
I know of nothing now that may prevent unless some unforeseen exigency occurs in regard to my bill before Congress.
In the meantime, remembering me specially to the gentlemen of the Academy, accept for yourself the assurance of my kind regards,
Very Respectfully,
Yr. Ob. Servt.
