Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen & Abandoned Lands,
Office Disbursing Officer State of Missouri,
St. Louis, Mo., May 10th 1868.

General

I have the honor to request an order to come to Washington D.C. on public business, of which I may avail myself as soon as the duties of my office and my personal affairs will permit.

I am contemplating a resignation of my position in the Bureau before long. I am however very desirous before doing so of conferring with the Commissioner & the heads of its different branches concerning its future management in this state. An early answer will oblige

Very Respectfully
