Darlington, Bureau Sub District of Bvt. Lieut. Col. H. E. Maynadier, Sub Asst. Comm'r.

Mr. Geo. E. Pingree, Agent at Darlington reports: "I have no outrages to report, all classes seem to be quietly at work, and there is little or no trouble between the two races.

[] Applications for provisions []

My time during the entire month has been taken up principally in receiving applications for provisions to be issued upon liens, and issuing the same. About four hundred applications have already been received, and there are few planters in the District who do not desire aid from the Government.

[] Election []

Election passed off here in an exceedingly quiet and orderly manner.

[] Heavy rains []

Heavy rains raged throughout the District, more than half of the month and so much rain fell, as to cause some of the corn planted to rot, and planters are fearful it will be followed by a fearful drouth.

[] Crime decreasing []

A marked decrease in crime and idleness is observable in this locality, and it is believed that the freedmen as a class, will work much better this year than last."

Laurensville, Bureau Sub District of Bvt. Lieut. J. N. Andrews, Sub Asst. Commissioner.
