I was in the office once to see about the Bill, I did not see Mr Stanage who is the only person in the establishment I know. There was a gentleman with me at the time, I presume he will remember it. The charge is ungentlemanly, uncalled for, and untrue, I am not in the habit of getting in such condition, but since the commissioner has done me the kindness to notice it, that I may show that I am "not guilty" I respectfully request that, (if you deem any further evidence than my denial necessary), an officer be sent to investigate and report on my conduct. When this is done, I have something to say as to the character of the person preferring the charges.
