progressing favorably Some good primary schools exist in other portions of the state yet obstacles to retard their progress has prevented their general advancement. there is a lack of good teachers and it is deemed that if competent and worthy teachers of their own race could be procured it would be greatly beneficial. 

The agricultural interests of the state have been financially successfull the currant year. Crops have been abundant and fair prices have been realized for the same. In many instances freedmen who have rented land have met with encouragement and will cultivate for themselves the coming year.

The bitter antagonistic feelings engendered by political predudices during the past election are slightly ameliorated, at least are dormant in the absence of party excitement. a general feeling of distrust exists between the races for grievances, whether real or fancied which only time and prudence can eradicate.
