That nothing would please him better than than to have a continuation of Bruce (verbatim) told Maj R, what we had been contriving about in our minds for some time (verbatim) before to obtain for Bruce. Maj R said he supposed there was no immediate hurry in the matter (This was about 1st May) I then saw Bruce and related the above conversation to him. I told him that I thought this trouble in my opinion (verbatim) came from action against him from Dr Bell, this for the first time (verbatim)  He seemed rather to agree with me, said it was now possible.
That day I rec'd a call form several medical men (Dr R.G.C. Jones, Dr F.J. Griffith, Dr. Geo Griffith, and Dr Sylton, (all of highest loyalty) who assured me that "out friend Bruce" was being kicked out of the Hospital because he had displeased Dr Bell and asked me what should be done about the circumstances (verbatim) I advised all parties to keep quiet in the matter, that we could get Bruce a situation even better than the one he was kicked out of, that it would hamper me in getting him the situation if a whisper of this got to the ears of the public. That the matter would give Union men very
