Dear Mr. Sawyer:

How very disappointed I was to learn that I had missed you when you dropped in a few days ago!

Your visits are so rare that I would have enjoyed indeed having this opportunity of a chat and also to hear your comments about our Drawing Exhibition.

Mrs. T. D. Parker, in this connection, told me that you would like to have the three following drawings sent to your Museum on approval. They will be forwarded momentarily and will remain insured by my Firm while in your Museum's custody and in transit both ways:

LA FAGE - "The Labors of Hercules" $350
(THREE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS)

LA FAGE - "The Israelites Plagued by Serpents" $350
(THREE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS)

According to my research, this last drawing is a finished study for the "Brazen Serpents", No. 37 in Jan van der Bruggen's album of engravings (after the drawings of La Fage), published in 1689, in Antwerp.

The subject being engraved on two plates, our drawing would have served for the lower part. It is obvious that the fig leaves were added at a later date.

DUGUET, Gaspard (attributed to) - "Paysage a la Tour Ronde" $1,200 (ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS)

Its close relationship to Poussin will not have escaped you.

I understand that you were also much impressed with:

DELACROIX - water colors - "Etudes de Marocains" - $7,000
(SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS)
