Mr. Germain Seligman,
5 East 57th Street,
New York City, 22,
New York.

Dear Mr. Seligman:

As I was out to see Mr. Schniewind yesterday afternoon and spent several hours with him, Miss Matsumoto has given your letter to me and asked me to answer it. After the minor operation he had, Mr. Schniewind came home from the hospital about a week ago but will not be back at the Institute for about ten days. He is getting along very well and it was best to have all this over before he leaves for Europe in May and so far all indications are that everything will turn out for the best.

We appreciate very much your concern about him . This interval has given him time to do a lot of reading for nothing pleases him so much as a good book on art and while he has been at home he has even developed a taste for chocolates. Should you care to write him, his address is 4565 Woodlawn Avenue, Chicago, 15, and he will be most happy to hear from you.

Again we should like to thank you for writing us. I hope you will be back in Chicago again before very long. I still remember the morning I spent at Seligmann's as one of the most enjoyable incidents during my stay in New York that year.

Sincerely,
Hugh Edwards -
Hugh Edwards, Assistant Curator
