Dear Mr. Rich:

Pursuant to my letter of the 3rd., I have now seen a group of paintings, gouaches, lithographs and drawings by the able artist Mr. Florsheim.

As you may realize, we handle the fewest number of contemporary artists of any gallery in New York, I believe, all chosen with the utmost care after viewing a wide range of their accomplishments. In line with that policy, I asked Mrs. T. D. Parker, who is in charge of the Contemporary American Department, to convey word to Mr. Florsheim that, as the group he sent in for us to see was almost without exception in the same mood, we would like to see him again in the Fall with the work he had carried out meanwhile. Knowing me as you do, you will understand this indicated a genuine interest, though Mrs. Parker felt the artist construed it otherwise.

Nevertheless, it was kind of you to think of me in this respect, and if Mr. Florsheim does return in the Fall, I shall most certainly let you know the outcome.
