New York, New York.

My dear Mr. Seligmann:

I regret very much not having let you know immediately of the arrival of the Goya. We were taking down and redistributing the Severance Collection and the Road to Victory exhibition, which meant that seven galleries were being rearranged, and in these days Mr. Francis, Mr. Hollis, and myself are working as utility men, helping our greatly reduced force. The result was that we could not open the box until it had been here several days and then I failed to attend to my correspondence.

The picture is as beautiful as I remember it in Chicago and we are thrilled about it. Thank you for the invoices. I will see that these are paid as agreed, by the end of the month.

Very sincerely yours,

William Milliken
