of such acts, but such a feeling of hostility towards colored schools exists in this particular locality, that I do not believe there is a single citizen of Gibson Co who possesses sufficient nerve to publicly raise his voice against this prejudice. Those favorably disposed express to me the belief, that it would not be safe for them to do so.

The school is now in a very flourishing condition and though the teachers are in continual fear that they will be interfered with, they intend if it it is possible to brave the opposition and continue their labors.
