Clarissa Dent appears to be truthful and honest, and I think she has given me a correct statement.

Statement of Clarissa Dent:
"She and her deceased daughter were slaves of Richard Price. After they became free in November, 1864, She (Clarissa) remained with Mr. Price until the following January, when she left him. Ellen Wills (her daughter) remained, her own choice, in service at her former home until she died in the Spring of 1868 - Mr. Price was kind to her deceased daughter, who had Pleurisy, which caused a miscarriage and resulted in her death. He also employed a physician to attend her daughter and had her decently buried.

She is permitted to visit her grandchildren whenever she desires to do so.

She has heard that the children have sometimes been treated unkindly but she has never seen it. She does not know it. She does not believe it.
