Maj. Deane favors the application, and would gladly recommend appropriations, if the means were at his disposal. Cannot a larger appropriation be made to the State, to meet some such cases as this? We cd locate many more excellent teachers & gather large schools among the freedmen, cd we have the buildings. May I not hope, dear sir, that you will give this case your favorable consideration?
