and yesterday started two things in the morning a landscape and a still-life. The first I painted on till almost eleven when the rising tide drove me back to the studio. Then I bought a tomato and an orange and combined them with a green fig in the sunlight. My criticism on both was encouraging. I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying work.

Thanks for the check of which I will be very careful. It will be plenty to for my visit to Alice I went Saturday afternoon, not missing criticism, returned Monday morning, and painted in the afternoon so I feel I didn't miss much. I am working extra hard this week
