But I was not at all pleased; I missed Mrs. Hickey. I must confided as much to the lady for she decided to send me to visit Mrs. Hickey for the day. 

Dressed up in all my new finery, my reemtrance into alumland was a triumph. All the tenement children suddenly became my friends again, and as ut was Sunday, I was escorted to Sunday-school by an admiring bodyguard. There it happened to be a special day for signing the drink pledge. I remember solemnly signing my name along with others.

At Mrs. Hickey's the tenement mothers had assembled. As they fingered my finery they all declared that the outer against me had been a terrible mistake!
