Mr. Harold Ruttenberg
3600 Grant Building
Pittsburgh, Pa -

Dear Harold Ruttenberg -
Hugh B, Wing, asked Lyndward to communicate with you. He in turn asked me to write to you on behalf of the American Congress, concerning the proposed cooperation between the C.I.O. representing progressive organized labor and the Am. Artists Congress Representing the progressive organized artists. I enclose excerpts of a [[strikethrough]] letter [[/strikethrough]] memorandum sent to Gardner Jackson who we understand is working with [[Lewis?]], by one of our members George Biddle. This memorandum was also sent to Malcolm Ross, of the national labor relations board. While they are much interested They believe that [[it is?]] best put off till after the coming AF. of L convention, You seem to disagree with that and we believe you are right. [[The?]] support you could muster for it now [[can?]] only be of advantage.
We propose that a committee Representing the C.I.O. should meet with the committee of the A.A.C. and on the basis of mutual understanding a definite program [[strikethrough]] of ? before [[/strikethrough]] might be worked out -
Hoping you get this in time.
Very sincerely yours Hugo Gellert -
