ARTISTS COUNCIL, U.S.A.
STUDIO 52, 80 WEST 40th STREET
NEW YORK, 18, N.Y.

TO Hugo Gellert

THIS IS AN INVITATION

The war and the release of atomic energy have made it clear that the world and this our own country must look toward a more closely integrated relationship. We artists have learned that we must take a more active and responsible part in the community and in the management of our own affairs.

We have no agency in the government to represent and promote the interests of artists. We feel that we are accepting unnecessary handicaps and are inviting disaster in the future, if we do not set up an efficient professional organization of our own at this time. Not an exhibiting society as such, but an organization for the professional welfare of artist. To that end we are forming the ARTISTS COUNCIL, U. S. A.
