ARTISTS COUNCIL, U.S.A.
A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF ARTISTS, DEVOTED TO THE PROFESSIONAL AND ECONOMIC WELFARE AND THE DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF ART IN THE UNITED STATES

The objectives are:
To represent and work for the interests of art and the artists of America;
To promote understanding and friendly relations with the artists of all countries;
To establish the fairest and most democratic procedure in relation to exhibitions, competitions and all matters of vital concern to art and affecting the culture of our country.
This involves improvement of relations with museums, with federal, state and municipal agencies.

Some of the problems that need immediate attention:
1. Establishment of federal, state and municipal competitions to secure the finest war memorials with the creative cooperation of painters, sculptors and architects.
2. To secure a minimum of one per cent provision for art works from all federal, state and municipal funds allocated for public building and housing projects.
3. To see that the art of the United States is adequately represented in all international exhibitions.
4. Establishment of a municipal art center in New York, adequate to meet the needs of this great cultural center of the Nation; and work for art centers in all communities where they are needed.
