Dear Shirley:

Than you for your favorable response to The Studio Museum's request to extend the loan period for your artworks included in the exhibition Explorations in the City of Light: African-American Artists in Paris, 1945-1965.

We are currently negotiating with additional American and European venues in order to determine whether or not the exhibition will continue to tour. The Milwaukee Art Museum has agreed to store the exhibition on their premises until June 12. Beyond that date, we will need to store the exhibition in a museum quality storage facility (i.e. climate controlled) located in New York. By June 30, we will make a decision as to how we should proceed. If, at that time, it is determined that the tour should end, we will notify you about returning your artworks and discuss arrangements for shipping; otherwise, we will provide you with an update regarding details of the plans for extending the tour.

For the sake of expedience, I'm requesting that you phone me collect (ext. 234) at The Studio Museum if you have concerns about any aspect of the scenario that I have outlined above. Also, please feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Again, we appreciate your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Valerie J. Mercer
