14. 1897 Thursday to P.K.B. Oh! My dearest dearest friend. the word has come which changes so wholly for you - all that is left to you, of the years that are to be passed on this earth. I feel so deeply, what it will all be to your loving heart, there seems scarcely a word that I can say. You will have courage to the end I know - and sweet resignation to the all wise decree, that your much loved husband before you, into the unknown week, it was ten days before I got over the fatigue and excitements of this change - but I do not think it will be so again. My dear love for you all. My tenderest thoughts are with you all the time. Your loving Fidelia
