ASPEN INSTITUTE FOR HUMANISTIC STUDIES
Founded by Walter P. Pa3pcke 1949

July 28, 1964

Mr. A. Groh
Stable Gallery
33 East 74th Street
New York, New York 10021

Dear Mr. Groh:
Subsequent to our telephone conversation, I did receive an estimate from Santini Brothers. I believe they must have sent you a carbon of this estimate. But if you did not, it is as follows:

1. Local pick-up $ 22.50
2. Pack and crate 350.00
3. Railway Express 197.50
4. Valuation 75.52
Total $645.52

This seems to be quite exhorbitant, and I recall your saying that you thought it would probably be less than $300, as Marisol herself expected. It does seem that the packing and crating cost of $350 is rather extreme. We have has some experience in this with a number of shows in the Institute's gallery.

Again, I want to assure you how very anxious we are to have a work of Marisol's here while she is in Aspen. Could you advise whether this estimate is inflexible, or if someone other than Santini Brothers might be put in charge of this shipment?

I look forward anxiously to hearing from you as we will not be able to make a decision on whether we can handle the piece until we find whether we can possibly afford it.

Many thanks for your continuing cooperation.

Sincerely,
Robert Murray

P.S. Is there a Marisol which might be less expensive to ship?
