Dear Betty,

We have been back two weeks already and I haven't even thanked you for our lovely, heavenly stay with you in St. Maarten. We absolutely loved it. Your house is a dream, just what a house should be when you want "to get away from all." You were so nice in taking us around your friends. All of whom are really people. Especially the Nicols. You are so fortunate to have then close to you.
Here is the book you lent me. It is fabulous, although I don't think it is about saints. That's just one of the hooks onto which the writer has hung another polemic. Interesting writer and a very well done book. Will look into his other writings now.
Could I take you for lunch on your birthday, if you are still free that day? It is the 31st, isn't it?
I hope you will have a chance to go to St. Maarten again very soon. How can you stay away?
Again, thank you very much for letting us invade your world there. We loved it.

Excuse the typewriter, but my handwriting is so awful. Not that my typing is superb, but at least it is legible.
