The National Sculpture Society announced last night that the $300 Lindsey Morris Memorial Prize had been won by Chester Beach, N. A., a former president of the society. The prize was established five years ago, for a small bas-lief. Mr.Beach's work is a plaque showing the front and the reverse of the medal he designed for the twelfth issue of the Society of Medalists.

A SCREEN on the east side of the court at the Avery bears an exhibition of the 16 medals issued by the Society of Medalists and represents those wide extremes of subjects matter and treatment which are encompassed within the scope of the art.

The medals have been cast in various tones of metal, range in subject from a hunting scene to symbolic representations of philosophic concepts, and in treatment from the most delicate tracery to high relief.

The art of the numismatist is one which requires great skill in design, to convey largeness of conception within small
