Designer Resigns

Florence Knoll Bassett, founder and design director of Knoll Associates, Inc., announced her resignation yesterday in order to devote more time to her private life. Mrs. Bassett will relinquish her position when current work on the interiors of the CBS building is completed in the spring. 

The announcement came from W. Cornell Dechert, president of Knoll Associates, Inc., a subsidiary of Art Metal Inc. Mr. Dechert announced the appointment of Kurt Burgold as vice president for product engineering and Murray Rothenberg as vice-president for manufacturing. Both have been with the Knoll organization for many years. Don Albinson, who joined the Knoll staff last year, has been appointed director of design development. 

Mrs. Bassett has lived in Miami Beach since her marriage to Harry Hood Bassett, president of the First National Bank in Miami. 

Knoll Design Head Retiring to Florida 

Florence Knoll Bassett, who has been described as the single most powerful figure in the field of modern design is giving up her job as director of design for Knoll Associates, Inc., in order to have more time for private life. Her husband is Harry Hood Bassett, who has cattle ranches in Florida and is president of the First National Bank in Miami.
 
Mrs. Bassett, who served as president of Knoll Associates Inc., from 1955, when her first husband, Hans Koll, died until 1960, will leafe the concern upon completion of her present task, the designing of interiors at the new CBS building. 
In making her announcement yesterday, Mrs.Bassett said that she planned to carry on some professional interests from her home in Miami.
