THE ROCKEFELLER INSTITUTE
A Graduate University and Research Center
NEW YORK, N. Y. 10021
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

Dear Schu,

I was saddened to read of your decision to resign as Director of Design of Knoll Associates: saddened because I fear it will mean that I shall see you even less in the future, but happy for you because I know that it means you will have more freedom for your own life. I am deeply grateful to you for the splendid work that you did here at The Rockefeller Institute and also at the National Academy of Sciences; it enriched each day I spend in either of these institutions. I am grateful to you for a friendship which I shall always treasure. And now I wish for you great happiness, and hope that I shall from time to time have the privilege of your company. And this I would also say: you have done much to make the environment of modern man more beautiful than it would have been without your inspiration.

With affectionate regards, I am
Yours sincerely,
Detlev Bronk
