Mr. George Grey Bernard,
The Nathan Hale Apartments,
New York City.

Dear Sir:

Replying to my inquiry for information concerning a competent sculptor, the Art Editor of Collier's Weekly has given me your name and address and I am writing you now for certain information.

I desire to make preliminary inquiry as to the estimated cost of a life size statue in bronze, the statue to be mounted upon a pedestal which probably would be about 12 feet in height.

The statue is to be erected in honor of Dr. Jerome Cochran, the founder and organizer of the Public Health System of Alabama.

In your reply please indicate what material, in your judgement, should be used in the construction of the base or pedestal, and also indicate what should be the proper height of the pedestal.

I desire to have also separate estimates submitted as to the probable cost of the base or pedestal, and of the statue itself. Hoping to hear from you at your earliest convenience, I am

Very truly yours,

W. H. Sanders
State Health Officer.
