New York City

November 8 1916.

My dear Mr. Mackay:

You spoke to me when visiting my Cloisters of your desire to obtain some Gothic Sculpture.

I intend to sell a Gothic marble Cloister composed of twenty-five capitals, sculptured with leaves, animal and human heads in architectural design. These capitals are for two columns each such as you saw standing in place before my cloister. Two columns stand on marble pedestals forming a complete ensemble of twenty-five capitals, fifty columns and twenty-five bases all guaranteed true Gothic, dating about 1400. It is a Cloister from lower France.

Please let me know at once if you are interested.

Yours very truly,

Mr. Clarence Mackay,
253 Broadway,
New York City.
