JOB MEETING MEMO AUGUST 24,1982
PLACE: Left-hand Canyon, Boulder, Colorado
PRESENT: Seyril Schochen
Dr. Martin Rubin
Jeane
Mira Amagasu
Tetsu Amagasu
PURPOSE: To see the site of proposed "Savitri House" and to discuss procedure as far as design

1. Seyril, Martin, and Jean, guided Mira and Tetsu to the site for the proposed buildings. Seyril pointed out the clearing which has been designated as the appropriate spot for Savitri House, and its relationship to the mountains, sun, and stream. The following were related as general requirements for the building:

a. The building, for zoning purposes, is to be designated as a "Community Theatre", to be used as a meeting-house and lecture hall for about 75 to 100 people. Although there are to be no permanent residents other than the staff of about six, there will need to be accomodations for the public, such as ample parking area, a septic system to handle two bathrooms each for men and for women, a heating system, a water supply, and an electric generator, as public utilities may not be available.

b. The living area for a staff of six will be occupied continuously for only about two months of the year, but they will need a utility room for doing laundry, a kitchen and bathrooms. A large, dampproof storage room will be necessary. Sound and light insulation must be considered. There must be a space large enough for the construction of scenery and other stage props.

c. It is to be a "Center for the Transformation of Consciousness Through Theatre and The Arts", with a companion eventually to be built in Auroville. Group creation, with maximum flexibility, will take place here. Movable platform units for dance, with perhaps one like that used in Noh, are desired. The space must be spherical, but will be used as in the ritual theatre of the Greeks -- from the threshing-floor to the circle.

d. There should also be a number of small rooms, as the center will supplement the existing school in the summertime.

2. The time schedule was indicated as flexible, as the deed itself depends on the approval of the plans by the zoning board.

3. Money for the project has been requested from the Frost Foundation, but as yet nothing has been decided. Labor will hopefully be donated.

4. All correspondence is to go via Seyril to the five board members.

5. Michael Bertin, the acting on-site architect, was contacted. He promised to send a survey when it is ready.
