Dear George,

A noble tree, a noble dream. What an experience to have cut it, to cure and build with it. And to dedicate it to life — its life, our lives.

George, I would think of it as a place from which to start, to gather unity and strength; and the place to come back to when the struggle is won, to remember. For if the struggle's lost, there will be no coming back.

I think it will take some dying. All life is a cycle, and some will need to die that others may live. All life on Earth runs on sunlight. Your tree knows all about that. Plants live on sunlight, herbivores on plants, carnivores on herbivores. 

The dying for life came much earlier. Stars had to die before
