Dear Sir
In 1866 I prefered a claim against the Freedmens Bureau for services rendered as a member of the Freedmens Court for King George County Va. The papers were refered to you & by you back to the agent in Richmond & by him to Maj. Johnson the agent at Fredericksburg. I think the last endorsement you made on the papers was that Congress had made no appropriation for the payment of such claims I then forwared [forwarded] the papers to a friend in in Washington who saw you on the subject and you stated the same to him this was I think in 1869. I received a letter from my friend stating that no appropriation had as yet been made for the payment of such claims he advised me to write to you on the subject. Will you have the kindness to inform me if there is any likely hood [[likelihood]] that
