Sir:

Somedays since I wrote to you respecting the school building at Fayetteville N.C. and today have through Hon. A.M. Waddell vouchers for the $600 signed by Mr J.B. Batchelor of Raleigh. He has introduced irrelevant matter and in their present form the vouchers would not pass the Treasury. I therefore enclose the papers to you (as Gen. Howard first promised the aid to you.) with a new set of vouchers embracing simply the materials labor expended in the building. If Mr L.W. Batchelor will sign the vouchers where I have placed his initials in pencil I will send him a check for the money unless you object. Gen Howard is under no obligation to Mr. B. but to you. The deed is enclosed to you also
Please have the business completed as soon as possible.
