Raleigh N.C. March 28 1871

Gen. Howard

Dear Sir

As I am greatly pressed by some of the parties with whom I have contracted for lumber &c to make payments I venture to write you again to ascertain when I may expect you will be ready to pay over my share of the appropriation, You will readily see how I am situated, and if I have to go to the bank it would be of some service to me to know how long to obtain a loan.

I am confident you will pardon me for my haste

Out school was never in a more flourishing condition not less than 200 pupils have been in the different departments during the year and perhaps fifty preparing for teachers.

Yours very truly
H.M. Tupper
