States that in December 1868 Brig Genl. Henry G. Thomas purchased a lot in Wythe Co. for a school (see copy deed enclosed) upon which a school house was built chiefly by J.K Pattison col’d (account for work lumber &c. enclosed). The lot will be lost to school having been bought from a man who had not paid for it and a decree for sale of land to pay purchase money having been issued. As the land will not bring enough to pay it, the work of Pattison will be lost. 

Requests return of papers if no relief can be granted.
