My Dear Sir:- 
As there is an excellent lady here from Lexington, Ky, endeavoring to interest onto people more dearly in the welfare of the freedmen in that State, at her suggestion I address you this brief note, asking of you favor to state what the Gen'l Gov't will do in aid of a home for Col'd orphans in her city, upon condition of the purchase of a suitable tract of land being procured for that purpose, by the freedmen and their friends.
