Sir:
I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 31st ultimo, to the Secretary, requesting the admission, free of duties and charges, of the articles mentioned in the Invoice which was enclosed in this Department's letter to you dated 27th ult. imported for the use of Freed Colored men and women of the U.S., in the ?, at the port of New York, from Birmingham England

The Collector of Customs at that port has been instructed accordingly.
