Sir, your circulars No 1 & 2 dated Nashville, Tenn, Sept 1st, 1865. has been recd. I will say I would be glad to comply with your request, and give you accurately if in my power, the statistics you require.

In order to secure uniformity of reports regular printed blanks should be furnished. As it is I will endeavor to answer your interrogatories, in an epistolary form, to the best of my knowledge. 

Question 1st. Ans. I think there is about three thousand colored people. Q. 2nd A- Two. Q. 3rd A. Three. The teachers of two schools have gone north - One teacher is unwell. Q. 4th A. Three. By the N.W.F.A. Com. - in addition my wife & self are employed by the same commission but do not labor in the school room. I have the supervision of matters connected with the schools; My
