wife acts as matron and we keep up a teachers Home. Q. 5th A. One. By the colored people in the place. Q. 6th A. Eighty-four soldiers who were paid principally by Govt have been mustered out of the service and have gone home. Two ladies who were employed by Chap Millerd, Supt of Freed &c, and were paid in part by the N.W.F.A. Com. they have gone home to Wis. Two teachers one lady and one gentleman, who were employed by the N.W.F.A. Com, but, in consequence of ill health left. Q. 7th A. Schools Nos 1 & 2 I think, have been organized some 7 or 8 months schools, No. 3 & 4 have been organized 3 months, each. I believe the school taught by the colored woman has been in operation about 13 months. Q. 8th A. One hundred males, & One hundred & thirty two females, under 12 yrs of age. - between 12 & 21 yrs of age 40 males & 60 females. - above 21 yrs of age, 14 females, & 4 males. Q 9th. A - five less than 3 months, - between 3 & 6 months. - four. - between 6 & 9 months. None. - 12 or more, One (colored) One or two more teachers are needed to supply the present demand.
