Our cause here is doing well. Much interest is manifested by the Freedmen. My school members one hundred and forty and is gradually increasing. Thanksgiving night I spoke for the colored and collected thirty six dollars to finish paying for the Stove and lumber. I hope by the commencement of the New year to have my house very comfortable. I rented a nice brick house of a Citizen this morning. Can keep it as long as I wish it. Mr. Anderson will occupy a part of the house with me. I do not get possession of it until 1st Jan. Have paid the rent in advance so it's a sure thing. Meet with no opposition whatever and am treated respectfully by some of the lawless and there is a great many of them here. Last Tuesday
