Not being a trained Gallery lecturer undertaking remarks on paintings and the artist, I might find myself stumbling around among wordy superlatives which ultimately have no meaning and leave us all exactly where we were before plus considerable impatience on your part with the attempt.
No,knowing Olive, I don't believe she would like that, so let us just say that Olive's work speaks for itself.
It seems to reflect her life and spirit and it can be said that Olive's life among us has been consistently serene, unlike some of her compadres in the arts who found it more interesting when relieved of Angl restraint!
I might add if there are any hidden skeletons rattling around in the closets of her private life, I have yet to know about them!
If you were lucky and saw that recent movie, "Friendly Persuasion" you have, I believe,a better picture of Olive Rush's background than I can give you within the limits of what is intended as a short introduction.
While a birthright Quaker, she occasionally allows a little militancy to creep in (remember what I said about the bear?)
Sometimes I wish she would lay aside her brushes [[strikethrough]] occasionally [[/strikethrough]] forget her gentle background and remembering her Indiana literary tradition, wield a wicked pen about things in general.
I had intended this as a thoughtful send-off for the Olive Rush Exhibition, what it turned out to be is not unlike a nostalgic minor air about Indiana with my own voice mumbling through it like a persistent static.
