Mr. Daniel Catton Rich, Director
Art Institute of Chicago
Michigan at Adams Street
Chicago, Illinois

Dear Mr. Rich:

Ever since Florence Arquin completed her excellent lectures on Latin American Art and Architecture at the Art Institute, I have wished to write and thank you on behalf of officers and members of the Pan American Council for presenting this valuable series on inter-American cultural backgrounds.

Those of us who had the privilege of attending these lectures found them to be the most remarkable and informative ever given in Chicago from the point of view of photography, correlation of materials, and informed, factual commentary.

As you know we have been attempting for the last fifteen years to make available to Chicagoans and Latin Americans information on the history, cultural life, and languages of all the Americas. From our point of view Miss Arquin's material and presentation were of such exceptional value that we are hopeful you will find it possible to present another series by her next year.

I am thinking in terms of many who missed her lectures because they did not know about them, as well as those who did attend regularly and are anxious to have further instruction on the cultural contribution of Latin America.

Should you find it possible to present another series of lectures by Miss Arquin, you can be assured of the enthusiastic cooperation of the Pan American Council in publicizing them.

With all good wishes and again thanks for your enterprise in the field of inter-American cultural relations,

                            Sincerely yours,

                            (signed)
                            Marcella Hurley
                             President
