June 18, 1943
Dear Hedda,
I'm by now about at the end of my trips, beautiful trip, had a good and safe ship and lots of dirty railroad.                      
I'm now somewhere in India and it seems I'll spend some time here before going to my final destination.                           All I can tell you about me is that I'm in good health, as lazy as usual and possible, very very hot here especially now. 
I sent you a telegram as soon as we hit land and another later. They were all standard
