Dear Hedda,
I'm still in the place where I was when last I wrote you, been here for almost two weeks now and I really enjoy staying here. Climat is excelent, food is fair, bed is hard as rock, people around nice and cordial as usualy people are when [[strikethrough]] a [[strikethrough]] in small isolated groups toward a newcomer. I have here the wildest poker games every night and I lost and won thousands of chinese dollars (inflation money). Nothing else to do after diner, we don't have here electric light so we stay and gamble for hours at the candles light. Tomorrow I'm leaving for a few days trip and I hope to find a populated place with an Army Post Office to send you this letter. I'll be back here then and I'll stay a few more days before continuing my real trip which should be over by end of Sept. or October.
I met now very nice fellows here an there and made good friendship with them but it's always for a short time and we write sometimes each other but it's all artificial, my idea about the mail is that it should come from The States and from you. Last letter I had from you was from middle July and I don't know much about you. Any change?
