Nov. 6, 1943 Dear Hedda, I'm still under the impression of your letter arrived in 15 days and it's too bad I didn't tell you to write me always to APO 627. Now it's morning, early because we can't get breakfast later than 7:30 so I have to get up at least at 7.15. Since I left the states I never slept after 8 o'clock except a couple of days aboard ship when I was sick of very unromantic sickness. I never told you about that period of time, we left in the first week of May and I was fortunate to have a very good Cabin with bath, mirrors and decorations on the wall. It was a very large room and slept there with other 5 boys, a couple of them very good fellows and now & then I have news from them. The ship was a big one and we didn't have much or real excitement. We stoped for short periods of time in New Zealand and Australia and I saw as much as it was possible of those places. In the first week of June we reached Colombo in Ceylon and had a good time there, parties and plenty of american whisky etc. A very good place, beautiful town and rich careless life. Quite different from India which is sad and crowded and especially the part where I spent most of the time really tragic because of starvation - [] More news next time - I was thinking I never saw you in a summer dress, the light kind you know, you must be wonderful. Ciao St. [] [] There's a drawing for you here-[]
