The news
Last night we had a poker game It was cold and wind, the fireplace gave only smoke so we had to keep the windows open, we were covered with sheepskin overcoats and blankets over, leaving out only the tip of the nose & tip of the fingers to hold the cards.

* I have regular lessons & do quite all right in chinese. Able to go in town & talk fine.

* Maybe you know the chinese don't say "how are you" or so for greeting when seeing each others. They are very practical and say "Have you had your breakfast?" in the morning, or "have you had lunch?" [[strikethrough]] in [[\strikethrough]] at noon, etc.

* When you see an old man & want to make him happy you'll ask how old are you? He'll say not too old not too old only 65. Hell, you'll say, I'd swear you have 75 and you look rather like 80. That'll make him happy, old man being much honored & respected.
