Dear Hedda,
No mail from you again since a long time and the latest news I had from you were from the waiting room of Chicago railroad station on your way to Provincetown. I'm sad and I feel I made a mistake by coming to Italy. It's all right to see again places you saw before but just as a tourist. I'm very much disgusted about the whole business, the atmosphere of little misery and intrigue and other European tricks I forgot about in the last 3 years. Now I see it again with new eyes and I'm very much homesick for the big generous America.
I'm moving again this evening it's now 2 o'clock in the afternoon
