Dear,
This is another day. This is about the first time in my life that I have to stay in an office. I'm complaining a lot. It's easy to understand how & why people are getting so silly. Office life is about the worst type of life probably. I'm taking afternoons off as often as possible. Yesterday I was busy with my physical examination for promotion. It takes quite sometime. I still have to fill lots of papers. It'll be ready in a few days and then they'll call me Lt. (jg) which means lieutenant junior grade, one stripe and [[strikethrough]] one [[/strikethrough]] a half. It's getting warmer & warmer. Today is very hot and flies. Afternoon. Long beard, I'll have to shave this evening. I have a dark room and I don't wake up in time to shave. I have my choice: shave or breakfast. (if i have I miss the breakfast) I'm writing you lots of silly things but I feel that way, it's too warm. I'll write you an energetic letter when I'll feel like it.

June 1. Dear, above is what I wrote you yesterday. Today I received 2 letters from you- one before you left and the other while in Chicago ( with the 2 postcards) -
contd. next letter.
