July 12 1944
Dear Hedda, Today is early in the morning and I feel better, I have a balcony and can see the whole city from it and that's something good to start the day with. I don't know yet wether we should have an apartment in New York on the top floor of a [[strikethrough]] tall [/strikethrough]] high building or a house out in the country, near New York somewhere. What do you think? We'd probably stay in the city and I'll grow moustache again (the big one I use to have is difficult to maintain going around. The dust sometimes is terriffic. A few days ago I was like a marble monument, all covered with white dust
