Thursday

Dear beautiful and very loved wife (I have your photo in front of me) I'm at studio now, late afternoon I had a hard day, the dentist send me to a surgeon to have an extraction done and I was so terrified that at 2 o'clock today I got drunk just before I went to the doct He changed his mind, instead he gave me a big shot of penicillin that sobered me up almost completely. I went [[strikethrough]] ho [[/strikethrough]] at office and slept for a while till Leo Lerman cam to wake me up for some drawings. I'm now still a litt dizzy but I'll go home to bed soon, I need to sleep about 20 hours (I told you that lately I had insomnia it was probably caused by infected tooth)

I'll tell you the day: in the morning coming to office I found Elenor here, she's been since 8 in the morning cleaning (she comes twice a week and studio looks beautiful) I went to dentist who gave me bad news about extraction. Came [[strikethrough]] home [[/strikethrough]] back sad, in [[??]]. Jim Geraghty came to visit me a little later (I'm trying to sell to N. Yorker the Detroit series) at 12 Kowenhoven came, brought me beautiful books on old houses & furniture. Went to lunch with Jim, he got drunk with me out of sympathy, anyway he was friendly this time and took me over to surgeon. When I returned to studio I found (bless you) a letter from you, the one in which you tell me about noises in next room, darling I'll be soon with you and neve let you again be away. I love you.
