Takaezu - 1 - 55

Takaezu: I think this person must have said that she would like to have one of my pieces in the museum. I don't know how this worked out, but he called me for an appointment to come and see my work. He didn't promise anything about whether he wanted it or not, because he wanted to see the work. He didn't commit himself. He said he'd like to come and see the work.

Q: What did you say?

Takaezu: O.K. It took us about two months to get together because we were both busy. About the way we had. Finally he came and he liked it and he took a whole slew of them. He's looking for patrons now, people who could donate what he wanted.

Q: He wants several of your pieces as a group?

Takaezu: Yes. And then I think some people from Cleveland might give to the museum.

Q: Are the pieces the museum took all made at about the same time?

Takaezu: No. He wanted fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties. Four different periods. He wanted to have that in mind.
